About

After 25 years, in 2017 Margaret Bennet-Alder, creator of the original and much-loved Toronto Gardener’s Journal & Source Book, decided to transfer her labour of love to a new team of gardeners.

And now we’re award winners!

Wow. Is this really our 8th edition since Margaret passed us the reins? We’re “those Battersby girls,” sisters Helen and Sarah. Since 2006, we’ve collaborated on the blog Toronto Gardens. (What was Margaret’s inspiration? Read her story here.)

Every year, we try to guess how many copies to print, and every year we sell out faster than expected. Unexpected things – like great reviews from respected garden people (see our Well Reviewed tab) or winning Gold and Silver Medals from GardenComm – take us by surprise.

We hope we’ve guessed correctly for 2025. And we look forward to helping our loyal and our newest buyers record another year of happy times in your garden!
